Chinese premier tells Bush there will be no change in Tibet policy

Bahrain News.Net
Thursday 27th March, 2008

Chinese President Hu Jintao has told US President George Bush that the Chinese Government's policy towards the Dalai Lama was clear and consistent.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry has revealed that in his telephone talk with President Bush on Wednesday, Hu insisted the exiled spiritual leader was fomenting the unrest to sabotage the Beijing Olympic Games.

He said: 'No responsible government would sit by and watch when faced with this kind of violent crime, which gravely violated human rights, seriously disrupted social order, and seriously endangered the safety of public life and property'.

Hu reiterated his Government's willingness to continue contacts and consultation with the Dalai Lama, as long as he truly abandons advocating 'Tibet independence' and stops activities aimed at splitting the motherland.

Bush had called Hu Jintao to emphasise his concerns about the unrest in Tibet and urged him to ease access for journalists and diplomats.

Meanwhile, the Tibetan parliament-in-exile speaker Karma Chophel, visiting Europe, told reporters he had confirmed 135 killings by Chinese forces.

He said: 'We believe the number of people dead, injured, arrested, could be 10 times more than the confirmed reports'.

Tibet's government-in-exile has previously said that 140 people were killed in the unrest, while China has reported a total of 20 deaths, 19 of them in the Tibetan capital Lhasa.

Mr Chophel urged Europe to make sure its 'moral power is not compromised in order to have good trade relations with China'.

He called for an independent international team be sent to Tibet to witness what is happening there.

Like the Dalai Lama, he rejected the idea of a boycott of the Beijing Olympic Games.

Earlier, Czech President Vaclav Klaus said he would not attend the opening ceremony or any of the Olympic Games.

He gave no reason for his decision but said it should not be seen as punishment for China's crackdown in Tibet.

Mr Havel said: 'I do not plan to travel to the Olympics in China, but my motivation is not a threat to China'.

Three other Czech officials have also said they will not go to the Beijing Olympics because of the situation in Tibet.

Chinese state media has said that more than 660 people have turned themselves in to police following the recent violent protests in and around Tibet.

Xinhua news agency reported 280 people in Lhasa had handed themselves in by Wednesday, and earlier reports said 381 people in Sichuan had surrendered.

overused strategy

Some countries are making use of the Olympics to create unrest between Tibet and China in the hope it may lead to independence for Tibet. Then, they’ll move in their army on the pretext of protecting Tibet but in realty, they are watching over China. This strategy has been used many times. China ain’t stupid. If bad comes to worse, they would rather give up hosting the Olympics than to give the baddies a chance to move next door to them.

The USA is in debt to China to the tune of trillions of dollars. Out of fear China will call in its loans, the USA is allowing them to innundate the North American marketplace with their crap goods. China has the US by the balls. That’s why the US wants Canada and Mexico to join it as one country. They are near bankrupt. And promising China our markets for their goods appeases China. But it isn’t good for Canada. Google the word Amero, our new currency that has already been minted. We all need boycott Chinese goods.

china's own human rights group

Why is it that the foreign countries didn’t bother about the no. of innocent victims killed. I think China is too kind. She doesn’t interfere in other countries’s politics, but you can’t say the same of these countries. It doesn’t work this way, China should ape these countries. Create her own human rights groups together with her allies, sent them to these western and e.u countries to protest on anything perceived as unfair, especially to asians. That should keep them busy.

Black cloud is hovering around in the sky of China. It will be wise to think twice. It would be much better to have a dilague with Dalai Lama prior to start Olympic Game. I do not think that America woud be bycotted in Olympic game. There are so many ways to compromise with the Lamas, even not handing over the Tibet to Dalai Lama right now. Ask them what is the demand first than treat them accordingly. Tibbet is now developing by and by and world is taking interest to visit Lhasa, Sangrilla etc.

It is time

China can still powerful without taiwan and tibet. I really think china is going towards WW III. People will not tolerate longer when china is killing tibet people mercillessly and occupying foreign land for 50 years. Unacceptable.
Once alqaeda is done and dusted , china will be no. 1 enemy. Even russia won’t support china.

People are still such children, fighting over a little toy when they have so many other toys. They fight over the toy rather than learning to play together and enjoy life..

Laws and Orders Must Be Maintained

The Lama clique is an Extremist group and they are the ones that were burning buildings and cars. They were the ones beating up the store owners and employees. Full force of laws and order must be enforced. Like all riots, there will always be death and injuries even in the Western World. Security persons must also defend themselves when they are attack. Mob violent has no excuses and enforcements must act swift otherwise it will run amuck and more people will be hurt and kill. China has been most patient.

China has a hard lesson to learn

People don’t want to be part of a country and the harder they clamp down the more people slip through their grasp.
Address why the people are unhappy or suffer more losses.
China has much to answer for.
Goon squads, jails, riot squads, murder, rape, genocide and deportation only work for so long.

ARE YOU SURE?

Are you sure about these? as you said:
“Goon squads, jails, riot squads, murder, rape, genocide and deportation only work for so long”
These are in western world.

no change in Tibet policy

The Dai Lama is a revered person like Gandhi, he advocate non-violence and just want justice for his people. The problem is the CCP (Chinese Communist Party), they relinquished Buddhism and all other religions. They don’t believe in the moral teachings of Buddha, they just want power and money right now. Most Chinese people still has strong religious conviction. Look at Russia after the collapse of communism, religion and Christian orthodox came back quickly but they didn’t get involved in politics. CCP should not be afraid, let every one be free to worship their own religion.

This Tibet controverse is not about nations of interfering into other nations domestic affairs, but is is a issue which basically covers people’s civil rights, and people’s civil rights do not have any international boundries, they cover all people in this planet of not being abused by any nation, no matter how big and powerful it is, each nation must guarantee people their human rights.

And when these human rights are not guaranteed to people, all free nations in this planet will rebell to those nations that abuse these rights to their people.

In the case of Tibet uprising, many people have their doubts that civil rights might have been abused to maintain law and order, principally because the press and media was shut out from reporting what meathod were used to maintain the restoration of law and order in this controverse.

Let us do not forget that we still live in a free world where nothing is hidden anymore from the people in every corner of this planet, but when things are hidden, people will become suspicious that evil doings are going on.

Each nation must guarantee their people the freedom of choice, freedom of religion, but religion and its laws should not be stronger than the civil laws, so in this case of Tibet, I do believe that Tibet must follow the civil laws and not impose its religious laws to dominate, but civil laws must be just and should respect human rights, to all its citizens religious or non religious.

If religious leaders respect the civil laws of a country, they should not be able to run away into exile, but if they go into self imposed exile, it probably means that they are not adhearing to established civil laws, and they want to take over possession of the government to suit their religious needs.

You talk about China, but what about Israel, what are they doing to the Palestine people?

Human rights, and property rights are not being respected.

A good way to compromise with a lama is to pack him full of silver and send him to the mountains in Peru, before he starts to spit in your face, because this is one of the bad characteristics that lamas have.

But if you treat a lama well, he can be a good worker, and affectionate, but if you instigate him he will spit all over you, so be prepared for the consequences that might arrise.
